MEMBERS PRESENT:  20.  Our guest was Chris from Redwing
TREASURER’S REPORT:  Balance as of 8/22/16 is $1,468.78.  55 paid members.
SECRETARY’S REPORT: 7/25/16 minutes approved as corrected.
Julie M reported that the community project upcycled/recycled at Under The Bridge was quite successful.  T-shirts were used for dog toys, head bands and belts.  There was a nice display of art projects from the group for the community view.  There were lots of people at the concert that night.
It was suggested that anyone who had joined RVAG in the last year reintroduce themselves to the group and refresh the members on what they liked to do with the intention of helping people get better acquainted.  New members present included: Barb G who had been invited by Alice and enjoyed knitting.  Julie M of Millville enjoyed wire wrapping of rock, jewelry and sewing. Sue E. of Lake City enjoyed weaving and working with fiber. Sally B from Frontenac enjoyed weaving, little quilts and punch needle. Rhonda W. of Nelson enjoyed painting, paper sculpture and working with gourds.
The Boutique will be held on November 18-20.  Angie urged members to bring handcrafted or de-stash items.  Instructions will be coming out on how to price and inventory sale items.         Set- up will be on Thursday.  There will be 3 hour work shifts that the members displaying items can sign up for.  Instructions will be given to the workers on balancing of the receipts during their work shift.  The boutique will end at 1:00 on Sunday and members can pick up any remaining items at that time.  Reimbursement for all sold items should also be distributed on Sunday.   Advertisement is done through book markers, newspaper, flyers and signage.  Members are urged to pick up flyers when they are available to post in their areas.
Several members showed or discussed their projects for the Art in the Heart Challenge.  The challenge ends in September with judging and prizes.  Motifs are shown on the web site and should be used for your project. The challenge rules will be posted on the web site and are also posted at the Coffee House.  After discussion it was decided that the project does not have to be an exact replica of the motifs posted.  This will allow for more creative projects.  If you have questions on the motifs please contact Pat Boesel or Pattie Emerson.
Angie reminded the members that the website renewal would be up in September at a cost of $99.00.  Karen moved and it was seconded that we should pay this renewal.
Election of officers will be in October.  Nominations will be taken in September.  Anyone interested in volunteering should contact a board member.
It was decided that monthly programs would be handled as they were this past year with members presenting ideas, choosing a date and informing the board so that it could be put on the calendar for the year.  Members are encouraged to give demonstrations.  The sub groups will be used as a way to fill in any months that are not covered from member suggestions.  Members are reimbursed for any supplies used for a program.  Non-members giving a program will be reimbursed a current fee of $50.00 to cover mileage and expenses.
MATERIAL GIRLS:  A group will be going to the Wisconsin Quilt Expo on September 10, 2016, with a bus from the Bluffview Quilt Shop in Winona.  The cost is $50.00.  The bus leaves the Winona Walmart parking lot at 6:00 a.m. and returns around 9:00 p.m.  Anyone interested should contact the Bluffview Quilt Shop.  A group will be going on a retreat at Primitive Gatherings in Menasha, Wisconsin, on September 21 to the 25.  If interested please contact     Jan K.

A letter was read from Chris Swain of Cannon Falls, Minnesota.  She is a long arm quilter looking to expand her customer base and would like to demonstrate her services.  It was decided to forward this letter to the Material Girls subgroup.
Reminder, our next meeting will be Monday, September 26, 2016.
