MEMBERS PRESENT 12.  1 Guest, Deb a quilter from Downsville.
TREASURER’S REPORT:  On Hand:  $1,500.78.  Expenditures: $300.00.  Deposits: $96.00.  Balance as of 2/22/16 is $1,296.78.   29 paid members.
SECRETARY’S REPORT:  January 25, 2016 minutes approved as submitted.
We still need ideas for programs for next year. Sub groups will each be responsible for one month.    Yvonne suggested Brian Hovey who gives demonstrations on miniature gardens and fairy gardens and would contact him as a possible program for March.  Barb is still working on contacting the mother and daughter from the Zumbrota area who create hats and scarves using bright colors. They also do their own dying and felting.  Another suggestion was cloth doll making by Sarah Malles of Maiden Rock.
Nancy reviewed the policy on program presentation reimbursement.  If you are not a member of RVAG, you would be given a $50.00 stipend to help cover the cost of mileage.  If you are a member of RVAG, you would be reimbursed for materials necessary for the class only.  Any presenter not a member of RVAG requesting more than a $50.00 stipend would be decided on case by case.
Suggested ideas for programs from the board were discussed and it was agreed to work them into the calendar. For one program we could have a show and tell of something historical that you or someone in your family had made.   We could also have a destashing night.  Members could bring fiber arts items or projects that they no longer were interested in and they would be auctioned off.  The money raised would go into the treasury for future use.
The Board came up with a list of 7 Community Projects for next year.  They included a make & take under the bridge.  Create a project for both adults and kids to complete.  Donate a scholarship to another local school.   Do a t-shirt rug for an animal shelter.  Yarn Bombing. (Wrapping objects like a tree or sculpture in colorful yarn)  Painting some of the fire hydrants in town. (Colorfully) Homemade bean bag chairs for the Lake City Library.  We could have a booth at the County Fair displaying some of our projects with brochures available about RVAG.  An  e-mail ballot will be sent to members to vote on their top three choices.  The Board will tally the votes and report back at the next meeting.
There was discussion on whether we should have a spring or summer boutique.  Last year the boutique was held during River Boat Days and featured a lot of summer projects.  Even though the summer boutique was successful it was decided not to have a spring/summer boutique this year and to put our energy into having a really good Fall Boutique.
The Web Site password was discussed.  It is not an easy task to change the password on the web site and if we were to make a permanent password, it was felt that the web site might be used by the members more.  The addresses and the e-mails would still be password protected.  Angela will e-mail the new password when the new membership list has been completed.
Angela is looking for 1 or 2, 2015 photos that members may have from the following meetings.  Please email them to Angela at ammazaika@nelson-tel.net.
