RIVER VALLY ARTS GUILD MONTHLY MEETING MINUTES–9/28/2015

CALL TO ORDER: at 6:30 by Mary M. F., President.
MEMBERS PRESENT: approx. 20
TREASURER’S REPORT: On hand: $1442. Expenditures: $124. Deposits: $224. Balance: $1542. 53 paid members.
SECRETARY’S REPORT: approved as written.
There is an upcoming RVAG trip; a Sock sale at Fox River Mills in Osage IA. Meet at ENCH on Fri, Oct 2 at 7 am sharp. Can you drive? There may be time to stop at other shops in town too!
Mary did a report on her trip to Tanzania.
Barb B read a note from Anne Rehbein saying that she enjoyed our group so much when she gave her talk. She donated her stipend back to our treasury! We enjoyed you too, Anne. Come back and Monday and see us!
Program scheduled for October is Wild wooly Women.
A class for a wool hooked sunflower on an old bed spring is being held.
Linda K volunteered to co-secretary with Pam in 2016. No volunteer as yet for Vice President but we need one!! Vote Oct 26 for officers.
Time to volunteer for next year’s monthly program/demos! If you had an idea this year and it hasn’t been done, please resubmit it to the board. We had lots of ideas and I’m sure we didn’t get to everyone!! We hope that the subgroups will be able to take a month like they did this year.
Melody, Jan, Linda took a class from Paulette: rug hooking special stitches, using proddy, etc.
November’s program will be making straw flowers.
RVAG SUBGROUP UPDATES
MATERIAL GIRLS: Barb Schintz Quilt Day was a great success. Congrats!! They had an auction in the group to raise funds. Retreats in the near future are being planned.
WILD WOOLIE WOMEN: Some of their completed projects were hanging at ENCH on our meeting night…beautiful. They will do program in October.
HOOKERS: Had a 3 day class/retreat at ENCH with Paulette of River Rock Wool, Hudson WI. We saw lots of projects in process…so beautiful!!
Reminder that October’s meeting will be Monday, Oct 26th.
December’s meeting will be Monday, Dec 14th. Please bring hors d’oeurves to share and a homemade gift for the gift exchange.
Jan K is in the process of making a convenience store for the fiber arts at the ENCH. You may have already noticed fabric and patterns but she has so much more! Such as fat quarters, charms, bolt fabric, jelly rolls, velvet; all sorts of threads and fancy threads; many, many different kinds of needles; patterns and books for punch needle, wool work, rug hooking, wool punch, needlepoint, quilts; velvet fabric. Come in and check it all out. New arrivals daily!
SHOW AND TELL
Judith – made over 26 different kind of seasoned salts. Some really neat flavors! Contact her if you are interested in them. She may have some for sale at our Boutique and I have seen some for sale in the area!
Pat B – wonderful wool hooked runner with birds on a flower vine. So cute wool hooked sunflower on a spring; an upcoming class!
Jennifer Wilson from Stampin-Up came and showed us a few things. We all got to make a cute gift tag to take home for later use. Thanks Jenifer!
