RIVER VALLEY ARTS GUILD Meeting: March 23, 2015 held at Tansy’s in Alma, WI
CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order by Vice President, Nancy Zimmerman.
MEMBERS PRESENT: 14 members plus one special guest, Katy Arens’ daughter Wylie from LaCrosse.

SECRETARY’S REPORT: accepted
Scholarship – The paperwork and check for a $250 Scholarship to be awarded to a student continuing their education in the Arts has been sent off. Thanks, Donna Richardson for coordinating this. The Guild will be acknowledged at the Awards Banquet and Commencement.
Spring Boutique Sale – no report, on track for June
Judie Sage said that Ann Rehbein will be doing the May program. Ann creates beautiful dolls from sticks, twigs, pine cones, etc. which are sold at a shop in Alma. Looking forward to this program, Judie! Patti Emerson and Barb Tentis are planning something special for July. More information to come.

Reminder of May meeting date change: Our May meeting falls on Memorial Day, so we will May 18
RVAG received a letter from the Common Closet who is celebrating their 5th anniversary with an open house April 5-25. They are looking for donations of cash and/or items for their door prizes. Patti said the Closet does a lot of good in the community. Members decided to give $50 to the Common Closet for their event. Judie Sage made the motion, Ione Timm seconded and the motion passed. NOTE to Barb Busch, please have check sent, please.
Nancy said that the dates for the Shepherd’s Harvest are a week earlier this year. It is not Mother’s Day weekend, but May 16-17. Admission is $5. Still trying to find out what is occurring that Mother’s Day Weekend.
Pat said the Chippewa Valley Museum is having another rug braiding class, Saturdays in April. Call 715-834-7871 for more information or visit http://www.cvmuseum.com
Judie Sage said that sheep sheering will occur the first two weekends of May. The second weekend will be Saturday only. The is a great event for the whole family! Watch their website for additional information (navigate there from our Member’s Connection page).
Pat Boesel has a friend who is interested in selling her stain glass supplies including tools, books and glass. Nancy said she will gladly give lessons. Interested parties can contact Pat Boesel for details.

PROGRAM: The group moved down the street to Urban Shanty. Nancy, Cookie and Pat sanded and painted, then painted and sanded some more to come up with a beautiful repurposed furniture item. Next sale at Urban Shanty is April 4. Check out their Facebook page for the next event.
