Quilt top of placemat, then iron on fusible interfacing, add back with right sides together. Turn right side out for easy placemats.

Cathy showed us an easier way to construct Jodi Barrows’ “Square in a Square” options for easily designing quilts.
Cathy showed how the pre-measured squares could be sewn between the two narrow strips. 
Then the strips were cut apart and the black rectangles added to each side. 
Using Jodi’s well marked ruler cuts were made. 
By turning the pre-cut pieces 
..and using Jodi’s specialized ruler.. 
new quilt designs are created. 
Turning the ruler yet another turn.. 
yeilds yet another design. 
Just a matter of which way the option is cut 
produces a new quilt pattern.

We took a coach bus to the Minnesota University’s Arboretum. The weather was perfect. After a stop at the gift shop, we boarded the tram and took a tour of the grounds. The guide, John was wonderful explaining each area and pointing out highlights along the way. We had a sandwich lunch and explored the amazing grounds independently. There was floral beauty everywhere you looked.
